Wydawnictwo to jest katalogiem wystawy czasowej pod tym samym tytułem, która była prezentowana w Muzeum od 7 maja do 20 czerwca 2014 r. Zainteresowani znajdą w nim ekslibrisy, rysunki i grafikę – dzieła zarówno historyczne, jenieckie, jak i prace współcześnie tworzących artystów. Pierwszym towarzyszą opisy, drugim – biogramy autorów. Szczególnie interesująca jest spisana przez kpt. Józefa Kobylańskiego w Oflagu VI B Dössel historia ekslibrisu polskich jeńców wojennych w Oflagu IV A Hohnstein – efekt ogłoszonego w tym obozie oficerskim w 1939 r. konkursu. Wszystkie prace obrazują to samo zagadnienie – wojnę i pokój.

This publication features a catalogue of the temporary exhibition under the same title, which was presented by the Museum between 7 May and 20 June 2014. Those interested will find in it bookplates, drawings and graphics – works that are both historical – created by POWs – and ones proposed by contemporary artists. The former are accompanied by descriptions, while the latter are given together with biographical notes on their authors. The history of Polish ex-libris created by Polish POWs in Oflag IV A Hohnstein, which was written down by Cpt. Józef Kobylański in Oflag VI B Dössel, is particularly interesting. It was the effect of a contest announced in that camp designed for officers in 1939. All the works explore the same motif – war and peace.
